Bar Model turns a word problem into a visual tape diagram. Students read a problem about combining or removing a quantity, then drag a bar to the length that represents the answer. Bar modelling is a structured visual strategy that converts language in a word problem into a diagram showing parts and wholes. Students who build bar models before calculating are less likely to choose the wrong operation, because the diagram makes the relationship explicit — a core strategy in problem-solving from grade 2 through upper primary.
