Net Folder shows a flat arrangement of polygons — a net — that animates and folds into a 3D solid on screen. Students rotate the result to inspect every face and count them, building the mental link between a flat drawing and the solid it becomes.
Visualising how a 2D net folds into a 3D solid develops spatial reasoning and builds the vocabulary of faces, edges, and vertices. This skill underpins later work on surface area and the classification of prisms, pyramids, and polyhedra in grades 3-5.
A cross-shaped net of six squares folds into a cube with 6 faces. A T-shaped net of five squares plus a triangle does not close into any standard solid — the game only presents valid nets, so students can focus on counting after folding rather than on net validity.
Students often miscount faces by counting the same face twice as they rotate, or by missing the base that folds underneath. Systematic rotation — top, front, sides, bottom — and keeping a tally solves both issues.
